A little about us....

Here at the Tenant Support Trust, we support and champion those in financial hardship who rent their homes and find themselves subjected to defects within their property which are causing (or are likely to cause) sub-standard living conditions. The impetus behind our work is a firm belief in the right to comfortable living conditions for all, regardless of their socio-economic status. We work with tenants to emancipate them from the restrictions that have hindered them in resolving their issues independently.

Figures released by the government in 2018, which are the most contemporary collection of statistics on the issue, shows there were, as of March that year, 4,235,958 people in receipt of housing benefit. Consequently, this means that an equal number of landlords stand to receive, by way of rent due, the money paid to these claimant's.

However, what figures do not show is that, whether renting publicly or privately, there is a ubiquitous issue faced by tenants across the rental sector; namely, that where there are profits to be made there are undoubtedly unscrupulous persons willing to sacrifice the health and well-being of those from whom the profit derives. And by far the most common way landlord's seek to increase their profit margin is by deliberately failing to undertake necessary repairs to properties, or, as the old saying goes, they simply turn a blind eye.

In a time when local authority resources are stretched to the hilt and solicitors seldom work pro bono on cases where they are not guaranteed to recover a significant sum by way of associated costs, tenants seeking support to  . These factors, among others, contribute to the inevitable fact that in instances where unprincipled landlord's expose their, often uninformed, tenant/s to poor living conditions, there is no succour for the despondent tenant/s.

And that's where we come in!

We are proud to be the UK's only charity solely committed to helping those suffering from financial hardship to resolve issues of disrepair in their homes. We are a small team of dedicated individuals whose principle goal is to empower tenants and assist them in rectifying any defects within their property which a landlord is responsible for maintaining.
